Horse & stable tags
Horse ID tags for saddles, bridles and tack
Saddles go missing, rugs get mixed up at the agistment and a loose horse needs a name and a number on it. A genuine Red Dingo tag, deep diamond engraved with your details, is the simplest fix. Horseshoes, hearts, stars, mountains and snowflakes: the perfect saddle tags at the stables.
Where to put a horse ID tag
On the saddle, a tag on a D-ring is the first thing anyone sees if it is lost or borrowed. On the bridle or halter it goes on the keeper or a ring, out of the way of the bit and buckles. The same tag works on a rug, a tack box, a grooming kit or the float keys.
Engrave your horse’s name on the front and your mobile and property name on the back. If the horse or the gear turns up somewhere it should not be, the finder knows exactly who to call.

Common questions
- Can I put an ID tag on a saddle or bridle?
- Yes. A Red Dingo tag is solid stainless steel with the details deep diamond engraved into the metal, so it is made to be worn outdoors every day. Thread it onto a saddle D-ring, a bridle or headstall keeper, or a halter ring with a split ring or a small key ring.
- What should I engrave on a saddle tag?
- Your horse’s name, your mobile number and the property or agistment name are the essentials. A saddle tag can also carry "Reward if found" or "Property of" with your name. A large tag fits up to six lines of engraving, so there is room for all of it.
- What size tag is best for horse gear?
- Choose large (38 mm) for saddles, rugs and tack boxes: it is the easiest to read at a glance and takes the most lines. A medium (30 mm) tag sits neater on a bridle or halter where a big tag would swing about.
- Will the tag stand up to life at the stables?
- The enamel designs are vitreous enamel fired onto stainless steel, and the engraving is cut into the metal rather than printed, so it does not rub off. For the hardest wear, the flat stainless steel heart has no enamel face to chip. Every tag carries the Red Dingo Lifetime Guarantee.
- How quickly will my horse tag arrive?
- Each tag is engraved to order by Red Dingo and posted with free standard delivery. Express Post is available at checkout for Australian addresses, and the envelope arrives addressed to your horse by name.
