Whether you are after a classic bone, a bright enamel design or a solid titanium tag that will outlast the collar, every dog name tag here is made to order and posted to your door anywhere in Australia.
Choosing the right tag for your dog
Start with size. A small 20 mm tag suits toy and small breeds up to about 10 kg, a medium 30 mm tag is the everyday choice for most dogs between roughly 10 and 25 kg, and a large 38 mm tag is the most legible for dogs over about 25 kg and giant breeds. Match the tag to the collar so it sits comfortably without swinging heavily.
Then think about the engraving. A name and a phone number read more easily on a larger tag, and a double-sided tag gives you a second face for an extra number or a note like “I am microchipped”. When you are unsure, size up for legibility on an active dog.

Common questions
- What size ID tag does my dog need?
- Use your dog’s weight as a guide: small (20 mm) suits toy and small breeds up to about 10 kg, medium (30 mm) fits most dogs between roughly 10 and 25 kg, and large (38 mm) is best for dogs over about 25 kg and giant breeds. Match the tag to the collar width and size up if you want a longer name and phone number to read at a glance.
- What is engraved on a dog ID tag?
- You choose. Most owners put the dog’s name on the front and a phone number on the back, and you can add a second number, a suburb or a short message such as “I am microchipped”. Double-sided tags give you a second face for extra lines. You will see exactly how it reads before you order.
- Will the engraving wear off?
- No. Every tag is finished with superior deep diamond engraving — never laser, stamped or printed — so it cannot scratch, fade or rub off, and stays readable for the life of your dog. It is covered by the Red Dingo Lifetime Guarantee.
- How much does a dog tag cost and how fast is delivery?
- Engraving is free and delivery is free worldwide with no minimum spend. Orders dispatch within one business day, and within Australia you can choose tracked AusPost Parcel Post or Express Post at checkout. Red Dingo even addresses the delivery envelope to your dog by name.
- My dog is microchipped. Does it still need an ID tag?
- Yes. A microchip can only be read with a scanner at a vet, shelter or council office, while an ID tag can be read by the neighbour who finds your dog in their front yard. Most dogs come home faster with a tag, and the microchip is the backup.
- Which tag is best for a dog that swims or plays rough?
- Stainless steel and titanium tags cope best with water, sand and daily knocks, and the deep diamond engraving stays readable because it is cut into the metal rather than printed on it. A medium or large tag is also easier to read on a busy dog.
